According to the Department of Railways, India is set to deliver nearly 20 train engines to Sri Lanka.
As India moves towards an electric train system, the nation has agreed to provide the decommissioned locomotives to Sri Lanka.
The Department of Railways have also decided to send a technical team to India in the near future to decide whether the engines are adequate for use in Sri Lanka.
A final decision will be made once the Department have inspected the locomotives.
