A man has stabbed his wife to death before taking his own life by hanging himself inside a room at a guest house in Pothuvil, Sri Lanka police reported.
The couple had been staying in a room at the guest house in Arugam Bay yesterday, and while following a suspicion due to them not opening the door, the manager of the guesthouse had informed officers at the Argugam Bay Police Post and broke down the door of the room alongside the police officer.
To their surprise, they discovered the woman in question lying in a pool of blood in the room while the man was found hanging inside the bathroom in an apparent murder-suicide.
The deceased woman is a 35-year-old resident of Mahakalugolla and the man is 51-year-old from Puthivil, police said, adding that further investigations are currently underway.
