Health Ministry Addresses Potential Temporary Medicine Shortages

Sri Lankan Health Minister and Cabinet Spokesperson Nalinda Jayatissa has acknowledged the possibility of a temporary shortage of one or two medicines in the coming days. This is due to some disruptions in the allocation process for importing medicines in the past.

Jayatissa reassured the public that the government is ready to take immediate action in case of any medicine shortages. He emphasized that the disruptions in the allocation process have been addressed, and the government is working to ensure a stable supply of essential medicines.

The Health Minister’s statement comes amidst the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka, which has led to challenges in securing essential supplies, including medicines. The government has been taking steps to mitigate the impact on the healthcare sector, including seeking international assistance and exploring alternative procurement channels.

Jayatissa’s remarks aim to provide transparency and assure the public that the government is actively monitoring the situation and prepared to respond swiftly to any potential medicine shortages. The priority is to maintain the availability of critical healthcare resources for the people of Sri Lanka during these challenging times.
