President Anura Kumara Dissanayake announced that Sri Lanka’s first digital national identity card will be issued by March 2026.
The President made this announcement while presenting the 2026 Budget in Parliament today.
The President said the introduction of the digital ID system marks a major step toward modernizing public administration and improving access to government services
