Chief of National Intelligence Kulatunga Retires

Retiring from his position on December 31, 2024, Major General (Rtd) Ruwan Kulatunga, who served as the Chief of National Intelligence (CNI), led the oversight of all intelligence agencies in the country under the Ministry of Defence. Assuming the role of senior intelligence officer in 2019, Kulatunga significantly bolstered the capabilities of the National Intelligence apparatus.

During his military career, Kulatunga played a pivotal role in operations against the LTTE until the conclusive success of the last humanitarian mission in May 2009. His valor on the battlefield earned him the prestigious Rana Sura Medal. Transitioning from military service on July 5, 2019, he went on to serve as the CNI until his recent departure from the position.
