CEB Reports 50 Elephant Deaths This Year Due to Illegal Electric Fences

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reported that approximately 50 wild elephants have tragically died in 2024 from electrocution caused by unauthorized electric fences and illegal power line connections.

In response, the CEB has taken necessary actions against those responsible for these illegal practices. The organization is urging the public to assist in protecting wild elephants by reporting any incidents of illegal power line tapping or unauthorized electric fences.
