Court of Appeal President, Justice Bandula Karunaratne, has resigned from all positions he holds amidst impeachment allegations by the Government, The Newsdesk SL learns.
Justice Karunaratne handed over his letter of resignation to President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka, mentioning that his last day of service would be the 1st of February 2025.
Earlier last week, it was learnt that the Government intended to move an impeachment motion against the Judge, allegedly citing his recent performance.
Therefore, considering his decision to step down, it is learnt that the Government has halted the motion that was due to be moved against Justice Karunaratne.
