The ‘Amber’ flood warnings issued for Nilwala, Aththanagalu Oya and Gin Ganga have been issued by the Department of Irrigation. The department has issued extended the warning for a further 24 hours until 09.00 a.m. on Tuesday (Oct. 03).
Residents in the relevant areas are urged to pay high attention to incoming notifications regarding adverse weather conditions. Disaster management authorities have also been advised to take note.
There has been some reported reduction in rainfall along the river basins within the past day. However, the water level is continuously increasing increasing in the Kelani River, with some low-lying areas overflowing.
