AKD’s Children’s Day message fosters compassion and independence

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake highlighted numerous challenges facing children today, such as poverty, malnutrition, insufficient health and sanitation facilities, environmental decline, educational discrepancies, social disparities, and the risks linked to substance abuse and improper technology usage.

In his Children’s Day statement, he emphasised their aim to liberate children from detrimental biases and societal impacts, along with the stresses of exam-centric learning that hinders their psychosocial growth.

“We aim to reclaim the joyful, carefree childhood that every child deserves,” he said, adding that by nurturing a generation of children who are healthy both in mind and spirit, we can foster compassionate, independent, and imaginative individuals who will shape a better future.
