The batch of 107 vehicles, which were recently returned to the Presidential Secretariat, were not allocated to the permanent staff of the Presidential Secretariat but to the personal staff of the former President appointed under Article 41 (1) of the Constitution, as stated by the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Clarifying the situation, the PMD mentioned that the vehicles were parked outside the Presidential Secretariat not for display purposes but due to the limited parking space within the premises.
In an official statement released by the Presidential Secretariat, it was noted that the fleet of vehicles had been stationed outside the Presidential Secretariat under police supervision.
The statement further indicated that arrangements are underway to allocate these vehicles to essential services promptly in accordance with the directives of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
As per the inventory furnished by the Presidential Secretariat, the vehicles had been distributed among four Senior Additional Secretaries, four Senior Advisors, nine Advisors, eight Directors General, twenty-six Directors, three Coordinating Directors, seven Coordinating Secretaries, and thirty-eight Members of Parliament.
