A total of 139 officers and 1,273 other ranks from the Sri Lanka Army (Regular and Volunteer Forces) have been promoted to their next ranks in celebration of the 75th Army Anniversary Day today (October 10).
The promotions were approved by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, based on recommendations from the Ministry of Defence and Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army. Among the officers, 131 Lieutenants have been promoted to Captain (including Quartermasters), and 8 Second Lieutenants have advanced to the rank of Lieutenant (Regular and Volunteer Forces).
In the Other Ranks category, promotions include 99 Warrant Officers-II to Warrant Officer-I, 185 Staff Sergeants to Warrant Officer-II, 380 Sergeants to Staff Sergeant, 346 Corporals to Sergeant, 111 Lance Corporals to Corporal, and 152 Privates to Lance Corporal (Regular and Volunteer Forces).
