A generous donation of Rs 1 billion has been donated towards the Little Hearts foundation, the cardiac care facility, at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital in Colombo, by Mr Nahil Wijesuriya.
The donation was received by Dr Duminda Samarasinghe, who initiated the Little Hearts foundation at the children’s hospital.
“It is with great pleasure I inform you that we have received a donation of Rs. 1,000,000,000.00 (One billion LKR) from Mr. Nahil Wijesuriya to the Little Hearts Project today. These funds will be mainly utilised for installation of the already delayed air conditioning system of the Cardiac and Critical Care Complex at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital. With this donation by this great philanthropist, we should be able to complete the construction before the end of 2024 to commence patient services,” said Dr. Duminda Samarasinghe.
Mr Wijesuriya is the father in law of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Weligama Organizer and former Vice Chairman of the SJB Youth, Rehan Jayawickreme.
