A large tree has fallen across a road in Colpetty this morning and has toppled a bus carrying passengers. 5 passengers are confirmed dead, while 17 others are in critical condition.
The injured have been rushed to the National Hospital in Colombo for treatment.
The bus was travelling from Colombo to Deniyaya when the incident happened.
The main Galle road has been closed until further notice.
