- GPS trackers on all CPC bowsers and pvt. bowsers to be surveilled
Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera said that decisions were taken to suspend the licenses of 40 fuel stations that have continuously violated the provision of fuel only through the quick response (QR) code fuel quotas.
Meanwhile, in a Twitter message, Wijesekera added that all fuel stations will be required to maintain a minimum 50% of stock tank capacity, and that Global Positioning System tracking systems will be fixed to all Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) owned fuel tankers by 15 April.
“All private bowsers will be followed,” he added.
The relevant decisions were taken during a progress review meeting held with the CPC and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited management and its officers yesterday (6).
At the meeting, the minister and officials reviewed the fuel cargo plan for the next eight weeks, refinery operations and fuel distribution during the festive season.
